Our Founders

Gunther Shia Co-Founder/Executive Director
Gunther Shia serves as the executive director of ResilientHeart. His passion for developing skills in emotional resilience began when his daughter was 2 years old. He co-founded ResilientHeart with the intention of teaching emotional resilience to children. However, he soon received requests from parents and adults in the workplace to expand the program to include adults.
After completing his MBA, Gunther worked for Goldman Sachs in Singapore and in several other countries before returning to the United States and working for three more US banks. He also has 10 years of experience as a former minister counseling adults and youth in several countries including the United States.
Gunther has received training from the UCLA MARC Center, Heart Math Institute, FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team, Mindful Schools, National Council for Behavioral Health, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and is a Certified Specialist in Trauma Recovery Hypnosis. He and his 6 year old daughter enjoy spending time outdoors and camping.

Sarah Di Bella Co-Founder

She was a co-founder and co-owner of a private school and two learning centers that served children from grades 1 through 12. As the finance manager for an international technology company and real estate development company, Sarah spearheaded all aspects of financial planning and analysis for projects in excess of 20 million dollars.
Sarah has 10 years experience in marketing and community outreach in both the Asian and Hispanic communities. She has received training from FEMA’s Community Emergency Response Team, Mindful Schools, Mental Health First Aid, National Alliance on Mental Illness, and is a practitioner of Yoga and Tai Chi.
Sarah’s passion for emotional well-being can be attributed to experiences early in life that taught her the impact self awareness and internal peace can have on the individual. She enjoys spending time with family and friends and can be found on scenic hiking trails, tending her garden, and discovering authentic hole-in-the-wall restaurants.
